I guess it’s just a day for quotes…

Trolling around one of my oft-mentioned favorite websites D & R I meandered over to the website for Coco’s and ran into a great quote. We like to laugh around my office about my often rampant snobbery. I am snobby about the things I like – beer, wine, whiskey, music, etc. I like things that are good and I often kvetch about things that are not (i.e. Light Beer, Pink wine, contemporary country music). So when I ran into this line about the kind of bikes this store will or will not buy I burst out laughing:

We do not buy modern department store brands like Magna, Pacific and Huffy. If it came from WalMart, Kmart, Target or Toys R Us, I am afraid that we are not interested. We are snobs, make no mistake, but that is not the reason we will not buy them. It is just not cost effective to repair and sell these bikes as replacement components are not available. We do buy older bikes made by Sears, JC Penney or Huffy, as they were of a much higher quality than current big box brands.

Ha!

It reminded me of perhaps my favorite quote of all time. It’s from a chap named Stephen Metcalf from an old Slate Article about Rock Snobs.
Here it is:

Because let’s face it, only one thing is more incorrigible than my snobbery, people, and that’s your indefensibly crappy taste in music.

It’s just perfect. It works with anything you want to use it with. For example – “…your indefensibly crappy taste in Beer”. Try it, you’ll love it!
