I didn’t really intend to climb hills today…

…but, I did anyway. I had in my mind a peaceful regular type of route today. I did my first, minor climb and it was really hitting me. In fact, I didn’t intend to ride at all. I left my towels and washcloths out of the mix when I packed my bag. Then the weather looked nice other than being a not so balmy 37 degrees. I planned to do some maintenance, grease the chain, install a lock mount (on the seat post, Tim), change a tube, do some cleaning. I settled on chain greasing only and hit the road.

I took a normalish start and headed toward Silver Hills still with intentions just to head out Corydon Pike and turn around at the first set of RR tracks. But, the wind was light and I just felt drawn to the hill. I had taken packing tape and wrapped it around my crappy shoes to try and suppress some of the cold but it didn’t really work. I really need to get proper shoes and covers. I made it up the hill and turned back towards New Albany. I wanted to get a picture of this view:

It looked like a Tolkien Scene from a Led Zeppelin song.

I also took a chance to take this picture:

I think it looks funny because the balaclava makes it look like I have a mustache and not a beard.

It was really cold as I descended and my feet were nearly hurting. But I made it back and warmed right up. I was really happy to get out on a day I thought would be a wash. We have poor weather forecasted for the next few days so this may have been my best chance in the early week.
