After a ten day stretch of no bike riding I was determined to get out today. There were still patches of snow and ice scattered about. Really the only bad parts were right around my office building.

I put some platform pedals on my beater bike and headed out towards the waterfront. The temperature was a reasonable 38 or so and I was really probably overdressed. It has been awhile since I rode this bike and awhile since I rode without clips. I may take some I/Grant demerits but I missed my clips and feeling connected to the bike. It maybe something that just takes acclimation.

It was a great day for a ride and it really felt good to suck in some cold air and take in the scenery. I stopped in Jefferson ville to take this picture similar to one taken a few weeks ago of the RB-1

The ride back was unexpectantly muddy and wet. Riding with no fenders I took a bit of a mud bath and so did the old bike:

I couldn’t help but think that this bike is not much to look at and certainly void of flashy names and gear, but I did fall in love with riding bikes on it….
